I just came across this paper from theoretical biologist Michael Levin, et. al.

I like Levin's thought process around scale-invariant intelligence. I haven't read this paper yet, but some friends like it.

Not done yet but reading through. Some of this is above my level, some sems frustratingly preliminary and not getting into the meat of things (maybe later in the article?). One claim i found interesting is i think the author’s other paper claiming a cell actually doesnt have the energy budget for classical computation and must be doing things in a more quantum style (presumably not meaning actual coherent superpositions but rather just sort of taking advantage of quantum thermodynamics). Very big claim to just drop in there.

Everything else ive read here seems like unobjectionable obvious consciousness theory that the woo masters would get really mad at if it didnt have so many impressive sounding citations.

OP have you read this and understood? Whats your takeaway from it?
