I've followed the demoscene for a while, and this is in a class of its own. The image is produced by using the left audio channel to control the beam on the X axis, and the right audio channel to control the beam on the Y axis.

This is in imperial cyberpunk battle hymn territory, this is engineering prowess worthy of spacefaring vessels applied casually, this is a modern carnyx that we might broadcast to our enemies as we invade. Fully analog What You See Is What You Hear. Remarkable.

Yeah I've seen this stuff before. I remember the one with the mushroom. This is definitely getting much better. I wonder where it will go. I wonder if it will at some point be basically "solved" with the ability to pair arbitrary video with arbitrary audio up to some limit of fidelity. If you look and listen closely, a lot of what he's doing is separating the image and sound. Like the sound is visible in the particulars of the wiggles, but where they are and even what shapes are dominant don't necessarily have much to do with what you're hearing. Sound is position and phase independent, but video is all about position and phase. So theoretically you can substantially decouple them. I'd love to see how far it can go though.

Yeah I've seen this 44
