This post is from friend of mine whom I met at a right wing conference. He’s very intelligent and funny, I thought a lot of these tips were very good, some I hadn’t heard before. I am doing most of them pretty well and am beginning to find a path for myself. I need to work a little harder and pray a little more, but overall I am on the right track and things are beginning to pan out for me.
Sharing a bit about myself because I’m curious if any people on here have advice or tips for me:
I am 22, have traveled extensively, have met a ton of amazing people at different events (mostly Urbit), and have been working on very interesting projects. I also got engaged last year to my amazing fianceé! My next step is to build the project into a full time thing, it is currently a startup of sorts. If that ends up not panning out I’ll wrap up school and use my degree (Ops. & Supply Chain Mgmt.) to find a job (will put a lot of effort and energy into finding something I like). I have not been to SF or much of California for tech/rw stuff and the scene in SF sounds pretty fun, so I hope to check that out at some point. If you have any conferences or events I should check out please let me know.
This is where I am at, I believe I’m doing well. If people have any advice, I always appreciate it. I can expand on things as well, I didn’t really go into major detail. Also curious to hear what people think of the author’s advice.
Well i agree with most of the OP essay. Its a bit rationalist and striver coded but of course thats where the smarties are. Let me try to give you some more advice not on there that i could have used, or did use to unique effect.
The first imperative for the sensitive young man is truth. You are looking for the communities of people who speak and act truly. You’re already killing it frankly if you have found the internet right because this is where most of that is happening right now. But maybe you could go further. Find the truly weird possibly defective or evil truth speakers. Thats where you will get interesting edge.
Join more cults. Or at least hang around and be useful. Always become one of the organizers who make things happen in whatever group you hang out with. But keep your independence. The cult is usually not going to actually work out. Mostly they are failed experiments in subsidizing the intellectual and social development of a bunch of ambitious young people (hey thats you). Cults generally have some secret knowledge, great arguments against normalcy, and a path of intellectual initiation. You must seek enlightenment by serial consumption of such radicalizing material.
Avoid and do not be taken in by the social imitators, dont become one. The imitator is a social niche defined by getting access to resources by merely having the right convictions or memes, pretending to have the right kind of potential, instead of doing useful work. These people are poisonous, will be the majority of most groups you hang around, and are your major threat model for running any kind of useful social scene. Make everyone pay rent in some form or another and these will evaporate.
As the flipside of that, collect great friendships with useful comrades you could trust with your life. Avoid movements. Your comrades are your most valuable asset. The movements generally are just imitator bait.
I’m going to get flamed for this but study and develop nuanced opinions on adolf hitler and national socialism. Every regime is defined by its taboos, which are generally the result of its falsity and guilt with respect to the last major conflict. The most important truths are concentrated around that. If you are unable to break the default opinion about these things, you are a permanent mind-slave of the system. If you are able, you are thereby red pilled out of the system, and have access to important secret insight and conviction. I dont just mean to have some party trick analysis. I mean you should actually believe something existentially hostile to the system. Don't do this publicly.
The safe kind of “right wing” that OP is talking about that can be open at college and get grants from tyler cowen is the fake echoes of the real thing which is the radical right which cannot do such things. The mainstream right can be interesting but is generally worthless in comparison with the actually radical right that it is trying to recuperate and draft off of. But the radical right is filled with wackos and falsehood, so you have to be more careful.
Take your own beliefs seriously. Get radicalized. Be willing to die for it, and therefore be deadly serious about what exactly it is. Escape the merely bourgeois right. That said, we live in a bourgeois society so dont neglect bourgeois striver career path advice like OP. You should be mentally liberated though and feel the pain of the falsehood. Find ways to become and prove to yourself that you are actually liberated from the system.
>if you’re female, follow sanilac’s advice Lmao. I agree with this up to the point of the surgeries, which permanently stamp you with the brand of too much vanity, too much performativeness, not enough character. I cant imagine an early medieval germanic noblewoman doing that and therefore neither should you.
>>2749 >>2746 One thing I notice here is no mention of exercising creative power, just a purely social orientation. Building up one's portfolio of technical and creative projects, and your ability to do good work is probably more important.
> To strive in this greater right-wing internet nexus (and a lot of the rest of the world) is to learn to live in spiraling networks of mentors and mentees, minnows organizing themselves around whales like Thiel, the Red Scare girls, and Cowen > consider dropping out of college or even high school > Build online clout
Here's a piece of advice: if you haven't already, drop everything you are doing, fly to Egypt, Pakistan, Indonesia or some other hellhole, and spend a month there to take it all in.
