Any reason why sofiechan is closed source?

It's good software. It solves a lot of problems that other textboards have tried (and mostly failed) to solve, and it looks really elegant. Forks could lead to interesting developments.

I have considered making sofiechan open source. I probably will some day. I have a few hesitations:

1. It's mostly irreversible.
2. Forks don't help me with anything.
3. Social media in particular gets more vulnerable to hostiles when the algorithms are open source.
4. My vision for this thing is more like a large place that many communities can inhabit than a piece of software that they run independently.
5. Open source makes sense for infrastructure that will have many deployments that people will build on top of. Social media is the opposite.
6. I think social media network effect projects like this benefit from difficulty of forking.

Now obviously I appreciate help with the code and would like to show it off, but the above holds me back. Instead I invite qualified people to the private repo.
