Did I mention we have a newsletter?

Sofiechan has a newsletter. Some of you know this, but perhaps not all. Log in and head over to the "you" page to affirmatively sign up. It's been working well for the last few weeks, so I think we will also turn it on by default for anyone who has posted. You can of course unsubscribe at any time either from the email itself or from your account page.

When we conceived of the newsletter, we went through a lot of ideas like having a community-written editorialized newsletter, customized contents per user, and other things like this. What we settled on for now is the barebones "5 good thread links" format. We may do the more advanced things some day, but we wanted to get the basic concept proven, and get some empirical feedback first.

So how have you guys been liking it? What would make the newsletter more useful for you? Our goal with sending the newsletter is to let you know when there's something cool happening on sofiechan so you can come by and participate. What would be your goal in receiving it?

Here's a few more ideas: Right now the newsletter is more compact than the front page (no replies). Should the newsletter include replies? What about whole posts or threads so you can read sofiechan directly in your mail client? Right now you recieve notifications on the site if someone replies to you or dms you. Should the newsletter include your notifications? Or maybe just include the threads you've engaged with?

I'd like to make the newsletter more discoverable as well. The easiest way to do this is to just send it to everyone by default, which we will be slowly working up to. Is there a better way?
